Nearly five months into the war, desperate families in Gaza’s north have been forced to scavenge for something to eat. UNRWA, the main aid agency for Palestinians, has said the last time it was able to deliver food aid to northern Gaza was more than a month ago, on 23 January. Food is running out, with aid agencies unable to get in to the area because of the bombing — and the frenzied looting of the few trucks that try to get through. Over the weeks and months, Israel’s relentless bombardment in response to Hamas’s deadly 7 October attacks has left Gaza largely a place of shattered concrete and lives.
