Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in Singapore for the Shangri-La Dialogue conference.
It’s expected he will meet U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and discuss support for Ukraine in his country’s war against Russia.
In a statement released on X, the Ukraine President has referred to Russia saying:
“Global security is impossible when the world’s largest country disregards recognized borders, international law, and the U.N. Charter, resorts to hunger, darkness, and nuclear blackmail.”

Russian troops captured about 752 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory in 2024.
Russian forces captured about 516 square kilometers between January 1, 2024 and April 29, 2024, the Institute for the Study of War report said. In May, the area of occupied territories was slightly expanded.
Although Russian troops achieved significant tactical gains in the northern Kharkov region in early May, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov has greatly overestimated the progress of Russian troops in Ukraine since the beginning of 2024. On May 31, he said that Russian troops had already captured 880 square kilometers in 2024.
“The advance is underway in all tactical areas. In general, 880 square kilometers of territory have come under the control of the Russian army this year,” Belousov said at a meeting of the Moscow-led CSTO security alliance in Almaty. Russian forces have also pushed Ukraine eight to nine kilometers back in the northeastern Kharkiv region, where they poured across the border on May 10 in a surprise land offensive, Belousov said.
“Thanks to the courageous and professional actions of our servicemen, 28 settlements have been liberated this month,” he added.
Ukraine has come under intense pressure since Russia launched its new offensive on Kharkiv, rushing reinforcements to the region while ceding ground on other areas of the front line.
Moscow is seeking to take advantage of manpower shortages and delays in U.S. military aid to Kyiv.
Ukraine’s top general said last week that Russian troops were “bogged down” trying to capture the northeastern border town of Vovchansk, but added that they were putting intense pressure on Ukraine’s army in the east.

Russian military experts decided to analyze what Western weapons the Armed Forces of Ukraine already have to strike the Russian Federation, how far these weapons can hit, and what can counter the next expansion of attacks by the Kyiv regime of the Russian Armed Forces.
Thus, French HAMMER guided bombs and AGM-88B anti-radar missiles are capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 60 and 80 kilometers. Accordingly, border settlements of the Russian Federation may be under attack, including Rylsk and Sudzha in the Kursk region, Novy Oskol in the Belgorod region and the long-suffering Belgorod itself.
When deployed at firing positions 30 km from the Russian border of the American M142 HIMARS and M270 MLRS MLRS, Ukrainian nationalists will be able to use 227-mm two-stage GLSDB rockets, as well as ATACMS Block I operational-tactical missiles to a depth of 135 kilometers. This will allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to shell Bryansk, Kursk, Stary Oskol and Rossosh, Taganrog and other cities. n. in this radius of destruction.
Longer-range ATACMS Block IA and QRU ground-based missiles, with a cluster warhead, reach targets at a distance of up to 300 kilometers. This means that settlements and administrative centers of the Oryol, Voronezh and Lipetsk regions may come under attack. Also within the range of these missiles are Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog, Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Shakhty, and other cities and villages.
The Franco-British stealth air-launched cruise missiles SCALP-EG/Storm Shadow have a similar range of 300 km. Let us remember that Paris and London have already allowed Kyiv to use their weapons to strike deep into Russia.
Although Portugal is not yet on the list of “permits,” the Tekever AR3 kamikaze drone developed and produced in this country is already being supplied to Ukraine by other countries. Its flight range reaches 1000 kilometers; Moscow and St. Petersburg fall within its coverage area. True, this is the vulnerability of this UAV. Russian crews of air defense systems, such as the Pantsir-S1 and Tor-M2 air defense systems, have time to detect and intercept drone. It is more difficult to shoot down high-speed British drones-kamikaze Banshee Jet-80+, the speed of which can reach up to 650 km/h and the range – up to 400 kilometers.
Of course, most modern domestic air defense systems are capable of countering GLSDB projectiles, while to repel massive ATACMS attacks it is necessary to deploy several S-400, S-300V4 or Buk-M3 batteries under the expected trajectories of their flight, as well as 10-30 km from the overlapped objects.
At the same time, it is impossible to create one hundred percent protection against new threats except by eliminating its source.
