Get your skates on! Williamsburg is set to welcome its first-ever waterfront ice skating rink, opening next week in Domino Park.
The 7,000-square-foot rink, located in the park’s newly completed Domino Square, is receiving final touches ahead of its soft opening on Monday, Nov. 25, followed by a grand opening on Thanksgiving.
Perfect for anyone looking to get into the holiday spirit, the rink is framed by the egg-shaped plaza to the east along Kent Avenue, offering stunning views of the waterfront and the East River, stretching as far as the Statue of Liberty.
Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for children, with skate rentals available for $5. The ticketing site will go live on Monday and can be accessed here.
The rink will be open seven days a week, offering public skating, themed events, and private rentals. Hours are noon to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
Families can enjoy half-priced admission and rentals on Wednesdays, while special events, including holiday-themed skate nights and live DJ sessions, will take place throughout the season.
Corporate groups and partygoers can also book the rink for private events, with catering options provided by popular local eateries like Roberta’s and Fini Pizza.
The ice rink is a centerpiece of Domino Square, the newly completed public space designed by Field Operations, the landscape architects behind Manhattan’s High Line, and Brooklyn’s Studio Cadena.
Since opening to the public in September, Domino Square has already hosted a range of community events and is poised to be a lively gathering spot this winter.
“Domino Square was designed to create one of the most versatile, unique, and welcoming public spaces in all of New York,” said Jed Walentas, principal at Two Trees Management, which developed the rink.
“With the opening of the first ice rink on the Williamsburg waterfront, we’re providing an unforgettable winter experience against the breathtaking backdrop of the Manhattan skyline,” Walentas added. “As the Square transforms into a winter wonderland this season, we have no doubt this new public space will continue to be well received by the local community.”
The square’s opening follows the October 2023 reopening of the Domino Sugar Refinery, whose adaptive reuse took almost six years and was plagued by controversy.
