Coney Island Prep to host Back-to-School Fair with free supplies, haircuts and more

Coney Island Prep is teaming up with The Alliance for Coney Island to ease the stress of back-to-school planning with a free community fair on Aug. 24.

Families with students in Pre-K through 8th grade can head to Kaiser Park for free perks and activities before kiddos return to the classroom.

In addition to free giveaways, including backpacks and school supplies, the event will offer services such as free haircuts and health screenings, ensuring students are well-prepared and feel their best for the new school year.

Event partners say that’s what inspired the event.

“Our goal is to ensure that every child is prepared and excited for the new school year, and this fair is a great way to bring the community together in support of all students,” said Karen Johnson, chief executive officer of Coney Island Prep, in a statement. “We are excited to celebrate the beginning of the school year with our Coney Island community.”

The event kicks off at 12 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to take advantage of the resources, enjoy local food and drinks, and participate in fun activities for kids. It is open to the public and will run until 4 p.m., with giveaways available while supplies last.

Kaiser Park is located at Neptune Avenue and West 29th Street in Coney Island.
