On Monday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani denied that any pre-arranged agreement was made with any country prior to Iran’s retaliatory attack against Israel.
“We have carried out this action (the attack on Israel) in the framework of deterrence. If another action is taken (by Israel), our actions will be more serious,” Kanaani said.
This statement comes after Iran’s foreign minister said on Sunday that Tehran had given notice to neighbouring countries days before its attack and had earlier announced to the U.S. that their operations would be “limited and minimal, with the aim of legitimate defence and punishment of the Israeli regime.”
Iran launched a barrage of missiles and explosive drones in its first direct attack on Israeli territory on Saturday, in what it said was retaliation for the bombing of its embassy compound in Syria’s capital on April 1.
