Cops are looking for the Brooklyn strangler who attacked a woman at a grocery store during an Independence Day assault.
According to police sources, the incident unfolded at around 9:20 p.m. inside the Progreso Latino deli near Fort Hamilton Parkway and 45th Street in Borough Park.
Police reported that the perpetrator approached the 21-year-old woman inside the store and grabbed her by the neck with both hands. The victim and the suspect are acquaintances, sources said. The reason for the assault remains unknown.
Law enforcement sources said the woman managed to break free of the man’s clutches. The suspect then fled the store in an unknown direction.
Officers from the 66th Precinct responded to the incident. The victim suffered pain and difficulty breathing, but refused medical attention.
So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation. Police said the suspect was last seen wearing a black tank top and a black Chicago White Sox baseball cap.
