Child and Adolescent Psychologist Clare Rowe has pinpointed smartphones as the “singular cause of deteriorating mental health”.

Sky News host Chris Kenny wrote in The Australian that the “great dumbing down” of humanity will have been triggered by the arrival of the smartphone.

“It’s actually not just social media … it’s actually the smartphone in general, and the hours that people spend on it,” Ms Rowe said.

“We are talking four or five hours a day – certainly that teenagers are spending on it that I see.”
