Let the antics begin! Brooklyn gears up for 49th annual Atlantic Antic Festival


Prepare to flood the streets of Brooklyn for the 49th annual Annual Atlantic Antic Festival later this month.

Hosted by the Atlantic Avenue Local Development Corporation, the festival will take place on Sunday, Sept. 29, rain or shine, along 1.5 miles of Atlantic Avenue, covering Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights, and Downtown Brooklyn. The event promises a day of community spirit, cultural diversity and entertainment for all ages.

The Antic offers plenty of activities. With more than 50 local merchants and 300 vendors, families can enjoy global cuisine, handmade crafts, fashion, jewelry and family-friendly fun.

Young ones will be happy to hear the popular Playtopia is returning this year, thanks to a collaboration with parenting websites Mommy Poppins and Brooklyn Bridge Parents. This interactive area will offer free sports, games, crafts, bubbles and balloons.

Bindlestiff Family Cirkus will keep the good times rolling with jugglers, acrobats, magic tricks and clowns.

Another Kids’ Zone with bouncy houses, face painting, and performances by the Silly Jazz Band will be located on Boerum Place, ensuring there’s no shortage of excitement for the little ones.

Entertainment will continue on the Community Stage between Third and Fourth Avenues, showcasing local R&B musicians, children’s dance groups, drummers, and rock bands on the Middle Eastern Stage at the corner of Clinton Street, traditional music and belly dancing will captivate audiences.

Attendees can also take a break from the tunes to shoot hoops on the Brooklyn Nets basketball court.

The annual Atlantic Antic Festival is set to be a remarkable celebration of community, culture and togetherness.
