BREAKING: Brooklyn police shoot machete-wielding suspect who attacked children, sources say


Police officers in Brooklyn shot and killed a man who allegedly attacked several children with a machete in an apparent domestic dispute on Sunday morning, sources familiar with the investigation said.

Law enforcement sources said the incident happened at about 10:30 a.m. on April 6 in the vicinity of 17th Avenue and 84th Street in Bensonhurst, within the confines of the 62nd Precinct.

During the incident, EMS removed three children who had apparently been attacked by the machete-wielding suspect, sources familiar with the case said. They were rushed to Maimonides Medical Center; one of the victims is in critical condition at this time.

The suspect was apparently shot by police during the encounter; the details of how that transpired have not yet been revealed, the sources said.

A large police investigation is now underway at the scene. Police officials are expected to outline the preliminary details of the incident later on Sunday.
