Detectives in Brooklyn are on the hunt for the gunman who shot and killed a man outside a public housing complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the shooting occurred at about 5:31 p.m. on May 21 outside the Marlboro Houses, a NYCHA complex located at 2326 West 8th St. in Gravesend.

Officers from the 60th Precinct and Police Service Area 1, in responding to a 911 call about the incident, found a 20-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

EMS rushed the victim to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he could not be saved and was pronounced dead. Police have withheld his identity, pending family notification.  

Police sources did not immediately have a motive for the deadly shooting. Based on a preliminary investigation, cops are looking for the suspect gunman, who was last seen wearing a red cap, a white shirt and black jeans.

No arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said.
