The New York City Economic Development Corporation is rolling out a series of community-focused events at the Brooklyn Army Terminal this summer, aiming to celebrate the city’s cultural diversity through music, dance, film and heritage programming.

The events will run from June through September.

Highlights include the return of Rooftop Films, which will offer free outdoor screenings at the terminal’s Ferry Plaza. The lineup features a July 26 screening of “Selena y Los Dinos,” honoring Tejano music icon Selena Quintanilla, and an Aug. 16 showing of “How Deep Is Your Love,” a documentary exploring deep-sea marine life.

The summer season kicks off June 21 with “Mochakk Calling NYC,” a ticketed outdoor music event headlined by DJ Mochakk and other prominent performers.

Jennifer Brown, senior vice president of asset management at NYCEDC’s Sunset Park District, said the team is excited to bring New Yorkers together.

“This summer’s programming at Brooklyn Army Terminal is all about offering free, inclusive events that reflect the vibrancy and diversity of New York City,” Brown told Brooklyn Paper. “From live music and cultural festivals to film screenings and family-friendly programming, we’ve curated a lineup designed to bring people together through shared experiences.”

Other celebrations, held in partnership with the Sunset Park Empowerment Center, include an Independence Day event on July 3 with family-friendly entertainment; the Carnaval de Chilenos & Tecuanos on July 12, honoring Chilean and Mexican cultures; and the Dominican Heritage Celebration on Aug. 9, featuring Dominican music.

• July 12: Carnaval de Chilenos & Tecuanos, 12–9 p.m.

• July 26: Rooftop Films screening of “Selena y Los Dinos,” 7–10:30 p.m.

• Aug. 7: IPA-Beer Celebration, 1–8 p.m.

• Aug. 9: Dominican Heritage Celebration, 12–9 p.m.

• Aug. 16: Rooftop Films screening of “How Deep Is Your Love,” 7–10:30 p.m.

• Sept. 6: Hispanic Heritage Celebration, 12–9 p.m.

All events are free and open to the public; some require an RSVP.

“Our goal is to connect both New Yorkers and the surrounding Sunset Park community to the waterfront, giving neighbors and visitors meaningful reasons to gather, mingle, and enjoy everything BAT has to offer,” Brown said. “By thoughtfully curating events that celebrate both creativity and community, we aim to create a welcoming experience that stands out.”
