Biden’s prostate cancer
Former President Joe Biden was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer in May 2025 and completed a round of radiation therapy in October 2025. The cancer had metastasized to his bones, but his office stated it is hormone-sensitive and can be effectively managed.
Diagnosis and treatment timeline
May 2025: Biden’s office publicly announced his diagnosis with an aggressive, advanced form of prostate cancer after he experienced urinary symptoms. The cancer was identified with a Gleason score of 9, meaning it was particularly fast-growing and had spread to his bones.
May–October 2025: Biden’s treatment plan began with hormone therapy.
October 2025: He started and completed a course of radiation therapy, a major milestone in his treatment.
September 2025: Biden also underwent a separate procedure for skin cancer, Mohs surgery, to remove lesions from his forehead.
Health outlook
While his metastatic prostate cancer is considered serious, medical experts note that newer hormonal and chemotherapy treatments have significantly extended patients’ longevity and improved quality of life.
Biden’s medical team described the cancer as “hormone-sensitive,” which allows for a more effective management strategy.— Michael Novakhov (@mikenov) Oct 21, 2025
