Detectives in are searching for the suspect who fatally shot a 38-year-old man early Friday on a Bushwick street.

Police said the gunfire erupted at about 1:19 a.m., April 11, near the corner of Pilling Street and Broadway.

Responding to a 911 call about the incident, officers from the 83rd Precinct arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Emergency medical services rushed the victim to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Police have not released his identity, pending family notification.

Investigators have also not yet released a description of the suspect, and police said no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.

Through April 6, the 83rd Precinct has recorded three murders so far this year, according to the most recent CompStat report.

Five shooting incidents have also been reported in the Bushwick Precinct in 2025 — up from zero during the same period last year. Citywide, 148 shootings have been reported so far in this year, a 20.9% decrease compared to the same time in 2024, according to the latest police statistics.
