Special victims detectives are looking for the violent creep who tried to rape a woman in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park earlier this week.
The NYPD released on Friday night a sketch of the male suspect wanted for the attack, which occurred inside a wooded area of the park in the vicinity of Wellhouse Drive and the Terrace Bridge, at about 9:35 p.m. on Sept. 16.
Based on a preliminary investigation, police reported that the suspect approached the victim, a 41-year-old woman, and grabbed hold of her neck. He began choking the woman, causing her to experience pain and difficulty breathing.
Police sources said the victim and suspect did not know each other.
While he choked the victim out, cops said, he attempted to sexually assault her. Following the attack, authorities reported, the perpetrator fled the scene on foot, heading westbound on Wellhouse Drive further inside the park.
The incident was reported to the 78th Precinct. Police said the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and examination; she was listed in stable condition.
Police described her attacker as a man standing 6 feet, 2 inches tall who was last seen wearing a light-colored baseball cap, a light-colored short-sleeve shirt, and khaki pants.
